Peter Flint Recieves Lifetime Achievement Award This year at our Annual Meeting, Peter Flint was awarded with Delaware Nature Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This is our most prestigious award and Peter Flint is the eighth person to be recognized in our 53 year history. Past recipients of the award include Howard Brokaw, Russell Peterson, Norm Wilder, Winston Wayne, Darwin Palmer, Lynn Williams, and Lorraine Fleming. managing that land using best conservation practices, which has increased the diversity of flora and fauna. He and his family also donated Flint Woods Preserve to Delaware Nature Society to protect the natural resources in perpetuity. As the largest remaining old growth hardwood forest in Delaware, Flint Woods provides a unique environment for education programs and exclusive hikes. Peter has made a difference in the local, national and international community by recognizing the importance of conservation, education, and advocacy for the natural world. His commitment to these causes are demonstrated through his work with environmental groups including Delaware Nature Society and Rare, an international conservation organization. Peter is a leader who understands the impact of his decisions. His generosity of time and wisdom over many decades has made a difference in the growth of our organization. We are also pleased that Peter’s impact with Delaware Nature Society will continue as he has joined our honorary board. With his wife Karen at his side, Peter led Delaware Nature Society as board chairman for 14 years during a time of tremendous growth and through an executive director transition. He served on many board committees including the conservancy, finance, governance, and executive. He has modeled his commitment to the environment in many ways including putting easements on his own property and Welcome to our newest class of board members voted in at the Annual Meeting this year.
