Hydrangea have huge bouquets of clustered flowers, in various arrangements from
mophead to lacecap from summer through fall. Varieties of hydrangea differ in size of
plant and flower shape, flower color, and blooming time. Hydrangeas thrive in a moist,
fertile, well-drained soil in partial to full shade.

Lilac, Syringa vulgaris is an upright, multi-stemmed, suckering, deciduous shrub in the olive
family. It is particularly noted for its blooms of very fragrant, tubular, 4-lobed, flowers (each
to 1/3” long) which bloom in large conical to narrow-pyramidal panicles (to 6-8” long).
Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates some shade.
