BARRY LEDOUX The Sorrows (of Otranto) 1 Cut paper, pigment, charcoal, glass beads, oil stick 40 x 30 The Sorrows (of Otranto) 3 Cut paper, pigment, charcoal, glass beads, oil stick 40 x 30 Barry LeDoux is from New Orleans, Louisiana and earned his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Bard College in New York. He has combined both the robust and macabre elements of Mardi Gras in his sculpture. Ledoux’s art practice includes destruction as part of the creative act. Lead, one of many materials that he uses, was initially chosen for its pliancy, surface, and color. Its toxicity and heaviness, however, are suggestive of the drama contained within and among the sculptural forms drawn from the artist’s own body and from those of his models. www.barryledoux.com
