Gerard Caliste is a rec ognized emerging artist born and raised in the
Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Caliste’s Afro-centric aesthetic spans
various media and is deeply inspired by his experience of Hurricane
Katrina and its difficult aftermath. Caliste’s works in ELEVEN VOICES
include the colorful large-scale work Many Park Strolls, complemented by
a pair of figurative mixed media sculptures depicted in the painting
Caliste studied at the Savannah College of Art & Design and currently
lives and teaches in Houston, Texas. In 2017 he was a featured artist for
Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI) in Miami.
