RC: Who is your role model that inspires you
most? Why?
SD: My role model, and person who inspires me the
most, is my best friend. She’s my biggest supporter
and she’s the reason I ever pursued modeling in the
first place. Because of her, I’m a better friend, a better son and a better man. The positive impact she
leaves on everyone she encounters is an admirable
quality that I try to emulate. Without her, I don’t think
I’d be where I am today.
RC: Tell us about your workout routine to stay
in shape.
SD: I work out twice a day about five days a week. I
do high-intensity workouts for short periods of time.
So I’m at the gym about an hour and a half each day
total. In the morning, I work on my chest, triceps and
abs, and in the evening, I work on my back, shoulders and biceps. For my legs, I do a short pre-workout routine before each upper-body workout.
RC: What is the most important tip you would
give someone who wants to get in shape?
SD: Consistency and discipline, but also allow yourself a reward here and there! Getting in shape isn’t
about having a summer body or looking good for
a shoot. It’s a lifestyle choice. It requires a great
amount of self-control to begin with, but over time
it does become easier. You don’t want to become
miserable, so do allow yourself a reward here and
there. I don’t like to call it “cheat days,” since it gives
the impression that you’re doing something wrong.
You should be rewarded for all your hard work! It’s
all about perspective.
RC: What are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
SD: I’m a huge video game nerd. I wanted to be a
computer programmer at one point. My favorite system is the PlayStation. So when I’m not busy working and traveling, you’ll usually find me secluded in
my room, playing a video game. I also enjoy theme
parks. I go to Disneyland and Universal Studios a
few times a year.
RC: What is your favorite place in the world?
Why?
SD: I haven’t explored nearly enough of the world to
know! Once I have, I’ll let you know!
RC: What is your current struggle?
SD: Recently I’ve struggled ignoring the hateful
comments that come with being in the public eye.
It’s easy to spot a thorn among the roses and that
thorn has more impact, sadly. I try to ignore them
and pay them no mind, but every so often it does
affect me and it’s an inner struggle to rise above it.
Fortunately, I have supportive friends and family and
they provide great advice that I do my best to follow.
RC: Is there anything else you would like to
share with Wire Magazine readers?
SD: Many people aren’t aware that I’m also a classically trained pianist. I’ve played for about 21 years
and I perform every once in awhile. You can find videos I post on my Instagram @theonlysteven, as well
as my YouTube channel. I have many aspirations,
so stay tuned! I’m just getting started.
RC: What do you enjoy the most about modeling
for photography?
SD: Photography is an art. It’s amazing to be able
to be a part of someone’s art. I’ve met some amazing photographers from all over the world, and every
time I work with someone new it’s fun to experience
what their process is. A picture is worth a thousand
words.
RC: Boxers or briefs?
SD: Boxer briefs.
RC: What are your favorite foods?
SD: I love sushi; I could eat it every day. I’m also
known to indulge in a pizza here and there. My family is from Long Island, NY, and they moved to California shortly before I was born. So I grew up with
my father constantly on the search for the closest
thing he could find to NY pizza. It involved a lot of
tastings, but we did find a place that got extremely
close!
