A sweet, nostalgic, and hopeful celebration packed with fireworks and live music will return to Coal Harbour in downtown Vancouver on December 31, 2016 to ring in the New Year on the North American West Coast. After last year’s highly successful inaugural event attracting over 80,000 attendees, making it the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in Canada, organizers of Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver are promising a significantly expanded event that heightens the revelry and showcases the city in all her festive beauty. This year’s event is officially a part of the nationwide Canada 150 celebrations, kicking off year-long festivities marking Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. The Society was founded in 2012 by Daily Hive CEO Karm The second annual Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver on Canada Place Way consists of two concert stages, a new tall countdown clock tower, and food trucks and sponsor activations along Canada Place Way. The free public celebration takes place from 6:30 pm to 12:10 am and consists of two high-aerial fireworks displays launched from a barge: a 9 pm Early Eve fireworks display for families with young children and a midnight countdown with a spectacular fireworks final The stroke of midnight from the main stage at last year’s event. THE BIGGEST AND BEST BALLROOM NYE EVENT IN VANCOUVER Another addition to this year’s Concord’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will be the inclusion of a major indoor event inside the West Building of the Vancouver Convention Centre within the stunningly beautiful West Ballrooms. This premium experience event, dubbed as TRUE NORTH, will have its own high-calibre live entertainment programming within two ballrooms. The New Pornographers will take centre stage at this indoor event, joining a TRUE NORTH lineup that includes Yukon Blonde, Megan Patrick, Humans, and Delhi 2 Dublin in one ballroom and DJs Kevin Shiu, Andy Clockwork, and Hebergebe in another ballroom. All revellers at the indoor event will have access to both ballrooms as well as the ability to enjoy the midnight fireworks from indoors through the multi-storey, floor-to-ceiling glass walls of the convention centre or the private outdoors areas on the Pacific Terrace, the location of the Digital Orca sculpture, overlooking Jack Poole Plaza. 30 4GUYS.CA
