A good thing to check is that you are covered up from the top as well. On those bluebird days when they look like they’re flying as high as jet planes, you have to remember that while you may be covered from all ground angles, you must also make sure they don’t notice you from the top either. Make sure you break up the area around you so they don't notice the boat you are in or that your outline is standing out in the marsh. Another key thing Captain Jarrod insisted on was keeping your face down as much as possible. If you are calling, try to keep looking down as much as possible, only peeking to see where the birds are at times when they are banking - when they aren't as focused on you. If they are being wary of you, then even the slightest bit such as the white in your eye could potentially spook them.
