Spotinst Raises
$15M A Round Led
By Intel Capital
and Vertex
Ventures
Spotinst has announced a
$15M Series A financing round,
led by Intel Capital and Vertex
Ventures with participation
from Springtide Ventures.
Spotinst makes it easy to
tap unused cloud computing
capacity and power. Since
launching 18 months ago,
the company has proven the
concept by selling millions of
spot Instances per week. Over
the last year, Spotinst grew
30% month over month, and
now manages hundreds of
millions of computing hours for
its customers.
‘When we floated the idea
of virtual cloud infrastructure
two years ago, many said that
it could not be done,’ said
Amiram Shachar, founder and
CEO of Spotinst. ‘But since then
companies and developers
voted with their workloads. We
appreciate their confidence
and support from our investors.
The proceeds will help Spotinst
grow, and take us closer to our
vision of a cloud of clouds.’
Wendell Brooks, senior
vice president of Intel Corp.
and president of Intel Capital
commented, ‘Automating the
delivery of highly available cloud
workloads allows enterprises to
unlock substantial cost savings,
without compromising workload
delivery. We look forward to
working closely with Spotinst to
help customers optimise their
cloud deployments.’

Asperitas and Qarnot computing announce
partnership on green edge computing
Asperitas and French green HPC service provider Qarnot
computing, have announced a partnership at SIGGRAPH, the
world’s largest annual conference and exhibition in computer
graphics and interactive techniques in Los Angeles.
Qarnot will act as a value added reseller and operator
of the Immersed Computing solution AIC24 developed
by Asperitas. The AIC24 is a stand-alone plug and play
solution to facilitate IT in an energy efficient and reliable
way, making use of total liquid cooling. Qarnot and
Asperitas are planning to deploy a showcase at the HQ of
Qarnot in Paris.
Qarnot provides cloud computing through a disruptive distributed infrastructure where
computing power is no longer deployed in concentrated data centres, but spread throughout
the city in the form of computing heaters and boilers, ideal for edge environments in
residential and commercial buildings.
Qarnot offers HPC through a scalable platform, hybrid by design, made of computing
hardware, but also operating public clouds and private infrastructure, accessible through a
web interface, a REST API and/or a Python SDK. The collaboration focus with Asperitas will be
on deployments on the building market.
Asperitas has worked on validating and developing Immersed Computing as a unique
approach to the data centre industry since 2014 together with a wide ecosystem of partners
including ADSE, Brink Industrial and the University of Leeds.

ForeScout Partners with ServiceNow
for Improved Asset Management,
Compliance and Security Response
ForeScout Technologies has partnered with ServiceNow to help customers gain visibility
of assets for better asset management, improved compliance and accelerated response
to security incidents. As one of the first steps in this partnership, ForeScout announced
the ForeScout Extended Module for ServiceNow.
This new integration leverages ForeScout’s agentless approach to monitor both
physical and virtual devices in real-time across campus, data centre and cloud
environments and provides context sharing between ForeScout and ServiceNow.
Together, the joint solution enables a single-source-of-truth repository that improves
asset compliance and security response capabilities.
Security and IT teams today are faced with several challenges due to an immense
volume and diversity of network connected devices, a highly mobile workforce and
virtualised hybrid-cloud environments, making it difficult to track and configure physical
and virtual devices as they enter and exit the network.
Together, ForeScout and ServiceNow allow for visibility of devices, monitoring
for indications of security incidents and rapid response to contain a potential breach.
Additionally, the ServiceNow configuration management database (CMDB) is enriched
by the contextual device information provided by ForeScout’s real-time view of assets.
