projects & agreements Interxion to expand in Frankfurt, Paris and Marseille Interxion will expand in three cities in response to customer demand. Interxion will construct its 11th data centre in Frankfurt (FRA11) and will expand data centres in Paris and Marseille to satisfy customer orders. As a result of these expansions, Interxion is also announcing an increase in its 2016 annual capital expenditure guidance to €260m-€280m. In Frankfurt, the final two phases of FRA10 are on schedule to open in 4Q 2016 and over 80 per cent of the FRA10 capacity is sold. To address the continued high pipeline demand, Interxion will build FRA11, providing 4,800m2 of equipped space and 10MW of customer available power when fully built out. It will be constructed in four phases and each phase will provide 1,200m2 of equipped space. The first two phases (FRA11.1 and FRA11.2) are scheduled to open in Q4 2017. The final two phases (FRA11.3 and FRA11.4) are scheduled to open in Q2 2018. The capital expenditure associated with FRA11 is expected to be approximately €95m. LASER LIGHT PARTNERS WITH EQUINIX TO DEPLOY LASER BASED COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK Equinix has been selected by Laser Light Communications (US) and its affiliate firm, Laser Light Global, (UK), as its strategic interconnection provider for Laser Light’s All Optical Hybrid Global Network, or ‘HALO’ a hybrid optical network exclusively utilising laser technology. As part of the initial agreement, Laser Light will establish its inaugural global Point of Presence (PoP) at Equinix’s DC11 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in the Washington, DC area.  With its deployment at DC11, Laser Light will commence installation, testing and demonstration of its leading edge laser communications and SD-WAN equipment. Once operational, the HALO satellite constellation will offer its Optical Satellite as a Service (OSaaS) - SpaceCable services –  to carriers, enterprises and government customers at Equinix facilities around the globe, providing a seamless all-optical communications system, through its hybrid satellite terrestrial network, capable of quickly and cost effectively connecting any two points on the globe with 100Gbps service links. 38 SSE ENTERPRISE TELECOMS LIGHTS UP TWO FARNBOROUGH DATA CENTRES AS IT RAMPS UP NETWORK GROWTH SSE Enterprise Telecoms has announced the latest two data centres to be added to its national fibre network. Customers of Ark and Datum’s data centres, which are both located in Farnborough, will now have access to SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ full range of Carrier Ethernet, dark fibre and optical networking services. SSE Enterprise Telecoms is committed to investing in strategically placed data centres and exchanges as part of the ongoing expansion of its network footprint. It already has more than 70 commercial data centres on-net. The two Farnborough sites offer data centre occupiers the advantage of a close link into London whilst set outside the M25. ACI Worldwide opens state-of-the-art European data centre ACI Worldwide has announced the opening of its new European data centre. Located in Limerick, this state-of-the-art facility delivers the utmost in reliability, security and data privacy, further expanding world class payments solution capabilities and capacity for European customers, comprising some of largest merchants, intermediaries and financial institutions, including the two biggest banks in Ireland. In order to accommodate growing EMEA demand, the new fully redundant data centre was built and launched in record time, and meets the most stringent security and compliance standards. Moreover, it further leverages ACI’s product investments to make its Universal Payments solutions available to European companies through ACI’s private cloud. The facility also brings job growth to the region. In partnership with IDA Ireland, ACI will add 50 new hires, on top of the current team of nearly 100. The company has had a presence in Limerick for 10 years, cultivating strong talent as part of its long standing internship program and collaboration with the University of Limerick.
