products & innovations New Fujitsu Primergy Servers Bring Tailored Top-Performance and Improved Energy Savings HI-DEX FROM BRAND-REX GOES MULTIMEDIA Brand-Rex has now added copper connectivity to its highly successful Hi-Dex fibre patching range. Hi-Dex now adds 10Gb/s Cat 6A/Class EA copper patching modules that have a similar format to the existing fibre cassettes. Four copper cassettes are fitted two-over-two into a 1U chassis unit. Each cassette contains six Brand-Rex 10GPlus shielded RJ-45 jacks together with an earth plane and earth connector. Four cassettes of six ports give an optimal density of 24x10Gb/s ports in 1U. The jacks in the cassettes are angled in line with best practice for Category 6A cables yet, only one module type is required as it can be simply flipped over for right hand or left hand patchcable egress. A major advantage of the successful Hi-Dex fibre product has been the ability to pull the cassette forward on runners to access the rear of the connectors without rear cabinet access. The feature is continued into the Hi-Dex copper modules. This is made possible by the BrandRex locus based cable tracking system – which ensures that the distance from cable attachment point to the Category 6A jack remains constant. This enhancement empowers users with the ability to take action as needed to better manage and monitor business critical data end-to-end. FreeStor gives customers the power to seamlessly migrate, recover, protect and deduplicate data – on or off the cloud – without tying their business to specific hardware, networks or protocols. FreeStor’s Intelligent Abstraction Layer enables the free flow of data and common services between the front end and back end, regardless of environment or location. Intelligent Abstraction virtualises both existing and future storage for a more efficient and consolidated storage infrastructure. Unlike array based analytics, FreeStor’s new Intelligent Predictive Analytics provides real time and historical analytics across heterogeneous storage systems to better manage capacity, performance, and availability. By combining Intelligent Abstraction with Predictive Analytics, users are able to take intelligent action based on real time information to optimise and maintain their storage environment from a single pane of glass regardless of storage vendor or location. The new Primergy line-up includes classical towers, racks, blades and slimline nodes for clusters, and dedicated rack models for service providers and hosters. The broad lineup provides a flexible enough choice to meet the needs of businesses large and small, across all vertical markets. Refreshed with newly released Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 product family processors with DDR4 memory technology with up to 2,400 MHz frequency, Fujitsu’s new generation Primergy dual socket servers remain at the forefront of performance, boasting approximately 20 per cent more system performance in comparison to the previous generation. Fujitsu Primergy customers also enjoy reduced energy costs for system cooling thanks to Fujitsu’s Cool-safe Advanced Thermal Design, with the threshold for safe operation raised from 40°C to 45°C for most available rack, tower and scaleout systems. The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 option means IT infrastructure is further protected against attack, since the system is able to to verify communication and manage encryption of data.
