Minkels receives FM Approval certification for Drop Away Panels

Minkels has recently extended its data centre product portfolio with drop away panels . Meanwhile , these panels have been ‘ FM Approved ’ ( in class 4651 – Suspended Plastic Ceilings ) by FM Approvals , the testing arm of international insurance carrier FM Global .
Minkels introduced its drop away panels in 2016 to increase fire safety in data centres . Drop away panels are specifically designed roof panels for aisle containment . In case of fire in the data centre , the panels automatically soften and drop down so that they won ’ t be an obstacle before sprinklers are activated .
The drop away panels have been available worldwide for some time . The greatest demand is currently coming from the US and the UK , where insurance contracts for data centre buildings demand that sprinkler and water mist systems are used . It is expected that the regulations for data centre buildings will soon be tightened up in countries such as Germany , France , Switzerland and the Netherlands .

Dutch startup solution impacts cloud , edge and hpc data centres

Asperitas , a cleantech startup from the Amsterdam area , one of the world ’ s data centre hotspots , is introducing a unique solution based on a total liquid cooling concept called Immersed Computing .
After 1.5 years of research and development with an ecosystem of partners Asperitas launched its first market ready solution , the AIC24 , at Data Centre World & Cloud Expo Europe .
The Asperitas AIC24 is at the centre of Immersed Computing . It is a closed system and a water cooled oil immersion system which relies on natural convection for circulation of the dielectric liquid . This results in a fully self-contained and plug and play modular system .
The AIC24 needs less infrastructure than other liquid installations , saving energy and costs on all levels of data centre operations . The AIC24 ensures efficiency in availability , energy reduction and reuse , whilst increasing capacity , greatly improving density , while saving energy at the same time .
The AIC24 is designed for the highest possible continuity for cloud providers . Total immersion ensures no oxygen gets in touch with the IT components , preventing oxidation . Thermal shock is greatly reduced due to the high heat capacity of liquid and the immersed environment only has minor temperature fluctuations , reducing stress by thermal expansion on micro-electronics .

Pulsant collaborates with Microsoft to develop new hybrid solution

Pulsant has announced the official launch of AMP — a new hybrid cloud solution set developed in collaboration with Microsoft .
AMP combines private and public cloud services and uses Microsoft Azure technology to speed up digital transformation and business growth .
‘ Hybrid cloud is fast becoming the technology of choice for businesses , but there are challenges around migration and management of multi-cloud environments . As a result , the traditional IT supplier is almost a thing of the past . Instead , businesses are seeking strategic business partners who understand the environment , the technologies involved and have relationships with key industry partners to bring it all together ,’ said Stuart Nielsen-Marsh , Microsoft strategy director at Pulsant .
Pulsant is one of a select few strategic hosting partners working with Microsoft and is a Microsoft Gold Partner and direct Cloud Solution Provider . The company is also working with both Microsoft and Dell on the deployment of Azure Stack into one of its data centres to create a Hybrid Cloud Centre of Excellence in the UK .
