Schneider Electric launches new Ecoflair Indirect Air Economiser
Schneider Electric has introduced the Ecoflair Indirect Air Economiser cooling solution , which uses a proprietary polymer heat exchanger technology to provide a cost effective , highly energy efficient approach to data centre cooling .
Ecoflair addresses the persistent challenge of maintaining optimum operating temperatures in data centres while keeping energy consumption to a minimum . The new system can reduce operating costs by over 60 per cent compared to legacy cooling approaches .
Available in 250kW and 500kW modules , Ecoflair is designed to be flexible and offer greater customisation according to the cooling requirement and local conditions , simplified installation and associated expenses , and increased serviceability together with lowered maintenance costs .
The scalable approach makes Ecoflair particularly suited for colocation facilities rated between 1 and 5MW ( 250kW modules ) and large hyperscale or cloud data centres rated up to 40MW ( 500kW modules ). The modularity also allows the cooling to grow at the same rate as power upgrades , according to the needs of the data centre as IT loads expand .
Indirect air economisation can be deployed regardless of most environmental or climactic conditions pertaining to the data centre ’ s location – the technology is typically suitable for at least 80 per cent of all global locations .

Nimble Storage Introduces Multi-cloud Storage Service
Nimble Storage has announced Nimble Cloud Volumes , a multi-cloud storage service for running applications in Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) and Microsoft Azure . Nimble Cloud Volumes provide enterprise grade availability and data services that have previously not been readily available in block storage for the cloud . These capabilities are necessary for moving the next wave of applications to the cloud – traditional transactional workloads – which place stringent requirements on storage .
Nimble Cloud Volumes combine the simplicity of a cloud service with the features and functionality enterprise applications need . IT can leverage public cloud for compute and Nimble Cloud Volumes for storage capacity . The service is managed with the same simplicity as native cloud storage , but provides the reliability and data durability enterprises expect . Data protection is flexible and cost effective , as customers only pay for changed data , not for additional full copies . IT can also easily create instant zero-copy clones in the public cloud enabling rapid deployment of test and development , analytics and bursting .
