Sithabile deploys Cloudian Object Storage for Data Backup , Recovery and Archiving Services
Cloudian has announced that Sithabile Technology Services ( STS ), a South African data management solutions business , has adopted Cloudian HyperStore to support its back up , recovery and archiving services .
Sithabile required a flexible solution to store multi-petabyte levels of unstructured data , with full public cloud compatibility and easy management for long term data retention . Having previously used a Scality based solution , Sithabile also considered options from IBM Cloud Object Storage , SwiftStack and HPE before selecting Cloudian HyperStore .
Businesses in South Africa are keen to take advantage of cloud services , but with tight data sovereignty laws many organisations have petabytes of data that cannot leave the country . With Cloudian , Sithabile customers can now securely utilise public cloud offerings for specific data types , while using its locally based services for data that must remain in South Africa – all through a single , simple interface .
Sithabile currently owns one data centre in Johannesburg , and following increased customer demand is planning to open a second in Cape Town in 2017 where Cloudian HyperStore will also be deployed .

Canaan Creative to open its first data centre outside of China in Boden , The Node Pole
Over the last several months , discussions have been taking place and it has been announced that Canaan Creative has chosen Boden for its expansion into Europe . The Chinese tech company has now moved into Boden and the Swedish data centre region , The Node Pole . Canaan is the first Chinese company within its sector to open a data centre in Europe . At an initial stage , the data centre will operate at roughly 10MW .
The actual premises Canaan Creative will utilise have previously been run as a ( HPC ) data centre by KnC Miner , a Swedish bitcoin company filed for bankruptcy in May 2016 . A further expansion is possible but not discussed at this point . Previous tenants running data centre operations have found other premises in Boden .

Interxion to Expand London Campus with New Lon3 Data Centre
Interxion Holding has announced that it is expanding its London campus , with a £ 30m investment in a third London data centre , known as ‘ Lon3 ’.
Scheduled to open in 2018 , Lon3 will add 1,800m 2 to Interxion ’ s uniquely located central London data centre campus , situated between the Square Mile and Tech City . The campus has become a strategic location for businesses looking to interconnect mission critical services in central London .
London is the most important colocation data centre market in Europe , and organisations in the city are leading Europe ’ s hybrid cloud adoption , attracted by the network performance , availability and privacy gains from services such as Interxion ’ s Cloud Connect .
As with all data centres on Interxion ’ s London Campus , Lon3 will deliver 24x7 operational excellence with a 99.999 per cent availability , fully redundant configurations for all critical systems , including monitoring and support , as well as around the clock CCTV surveillance and advanced security systems .
Lon3 customers can easily interconnect to over 90 connectivity providers , a multitude of cloud services providers and other services located in other parts of the London campus simply via the customer portal .
Lon3 is the latest in Interxion ’ s expanding European data centre estate , with recent announcements of expansion in Frankfurt , Marseille , Paris , and Stockholm .
