Every major IT vendor in the world today is involved in OpenStack . An open source software for creating a cloud platform that enables organisations and IT functions to offer anything ‘ as-a-service ’. Predominantly Infrastructure-as-a-Service but this lays the foundation for building Software-as-a-Service and Platformas-a-Service on top .

It is basically a library of software modules written in Python with APIs into multiple other programming languages which can then be deployed directly onto commodity hardware , enriching it with features and functionality .
