meet me room rewarding part of my job is seeing the advancements in development and knowing we have an amazing product that always gets customers excited when we demonstrate it .
Are there any major changes that you would like to see in the data centre industry ? The main change needs to be around embracing cloud based solutions and moving away from heavy enterprise software . We work in an industry where software solutions are sold for crazy prices and it takes a whole team of professional services teams to help implement and train customers which then take months , if not years , to try and gain some return on investment from . This needs to change .
Software has become more ‘ open source ’ and lightweight with the use of mobile Apps and we need to embrace the use of smartphones and technology that is in most people ’ s hands . I would like to see the DCIM industry turn on its head to offering value for money , subscription based software on modern architecture so customers can implement and configure themselves and easily see quick ROI .
What are your hobbies / interests outside work ? I honestly don ’ t get much downtime but I have been a keen runner for over 10 years . I run seven miles , three times a week and would love to do more . I completed the London marathon a few years ago , and have run many half marathons and , with more time , I would love to continue to do this . Whenever I travel I run and I enjoy taking in new views and places on foot . I use this downtime to clear my mind and help keep myself fit . Outside of this I enjoy travelling , spending time with my family and , when I can , go watch West Ham United play who I have supported since I was a child . How would you spend your perfect weekend ( imagining no travel constraints )? This is easy . Wake up in a beach house overlooking the California coastline . A run on the beach with my partner and dog followed by a refreshing juice staring at the sea . Followed by some jet skiing , snorkelling and then a fantastic romantic candlelit dinner watching the sunset , this would be my perfect time away .
Do you have any lifetime targets , professionally or personally ? Yes , I would like to make Trackit a household name . I would love everyone to being using Trackit , from people managing their assets for their home insurance , to facilities managers using it for managing buildings and infrastructure to data centre managers in big data centres around the world . People think of Sage and QuickBooks for financial packages - I want people to think of Trackit for asset management .
On a personal note , I would also love to retire before I am 50 and travel the world to all the places I haven ’ t been and if business works well share some of my good fortune with others who need it .
Favourite : Book ? Film ? TV show ? Singer / band ? I am not a big reader as I never get the time to finish a book but my favorite film is Wolf of Wall Street , it just makes me smile so much , it reminds me of when I worked in the commercial moving space and we moved a trading floor environment , we found many a strange thing on that project . Coldplay is my favourite band and I was lucky enough to see them at Wembley this year , something I will never forget .
Do you have any big industry predictions or targets for 2017 ? I want Trackit to be disruptive in the DCIM / CMDB space and help businesses get value for money from their software . Big Data requires solutions to accurately manage and control assets and this demand is only getting bigger .
2017 is about knowing what business assets you have , where they are located , how hard they are being sweated and what value they have in your business . This should all come at an affordable price to really show value for money .
