products & innovations Tintri expands its fully integrated data protection and disaster recovery solution Tintri has announced the general availability of Tintri Synchronous Replication, an integral part of Tintri’s data protection and disaster recovery (DP/DR) solution. The solution offers fully integrated primary and secondary storage – including all the capabilities of virtualisation-aware storage (VAS) with compelling economics. Tintri’s DP/DR solution is comprised of Tintri VMstore arrays and its highly differentiated Tintri Software Suite – including Tintri Global Centre, Synchronous Replication, ReplicateVM and SecureVM. The solution makes it easy to maintain seamless operation and minimise recovery time and point objectives (RTPO) for mission critical applications. Tintri native snapshot capabilities allow first line of defence data protection and recovery. Tintri also integrates with backup solutions such as Veeam and Commvault while using any secondary storage and will soon also offer native protection of Tintri snapshots from onpremises to public cloud storage through an S3 connector. With Tintri’s snapshot based space saving features, the DP/DR solution offers compelling economics both in terms of efficiency and opex savings, even compared with secondary storage solutions. The solution provides valuable features including full control and visibility of latency across host, network and storage for both primary and secondary storage and newly released Tintri Synchronous Replication. The reengineered network model has reduced Doddle’s business capex and technology opex by nearly 50 per cent, by enabling greater flexibility for deployment and maintenance. Doddle, based in the UK with over 80 stores in train stations, universities, shopping centres and business parks, has many sites in confined or restricted spaces. It needs to operate an efficient and reliable network without cumbersome and space intensive hardware. Doddle can now run sites from a single in-store connection, bringing together routing, multi-WAN support, advanced security, private network support and high performance Wi- Fi in a routing platform that can be deployed, managed and optimised via the cloud. With ambitious expansion plans, Doddle needed the ability to deploy and remotely operate its network across a large number of dispersed sites, with only a small IT team supporting its employees and resources shared with retail partners. The company turned to Cradlepoint for help to design and deploy a cost effective, robust solution that would not require a fixed cable or hardware cabinet. Cradlepoint’s AER1600 all-in-one network solution was chosen to replace legacy equipment across 50 stores and is now the technology model for ongoing expansion. In the data centre market, load testing is essential for business continuity planning as the potential loss of valuable data, due to a power failure, could be catastrophic. The location of generators used to power these often vast sites can vary which can make regularly testing problematic. This new range from Crestchic, for loadbanks from 100kw to 2,000kw, will make the transportation of loadbanks to and around a site simpler and more cost effective. The trailers supplied by Knott-Avonride are UK/EU road legal and available from stock with a cover for added protection. This new packaged solution adds to the existing frames and container units available from Crestchic. Crestchic design and manufacture a wide range of loadbanks to provide accurate electrical loads for testing power sources. Specific voltage, frequency and connections requirements are available dependant on requirements and all loadbanks employ stainless steel finned elements for maximum heat dissipation and durability.
