Preparing for Launch of

IB Diploma Programme

Our commitment to high quality , challenging , international education by providing our students a gateway to the future
In the Secondary School , we are continuing to prepare for the launch of the IB Diploma Programme in August 2017 . Dover Court International School is a candidate school * for the IB Diploma Programme ( IBDP ). Our school is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School . These are schools that share a common philosophy — a commitment to a high quality , challenging , international education that we believe is important for our students in preparing them for the future .
Our IB teachers have now completed their 4 week training programme and have received their certificates this week . Congratulations to Mr . Cotterill , Mr . Jury , Ms Kertrestel , Ms Mahoney , Ms McKernan , Mr . O ’ Shea , Mrs . Rinaldi and Mr . Tuckley for the successful completion of the training . Mr . Woodhall , Mr . Smith and Mr . Whisby will also be commencing their training later in the year , alongside new members of staff who will be joining DCIS in August . All of the teachers are extremely excited about the launch of the IB and are busy planning their schemes of learning and beginning to prepare resources for the new academic year .
We are also delighted to announce the launch of our IB Diploma Scholarship . Successful recipients will have their tuition fee discounted by either 50 % or 30 % for the length of the scholarship . We are looking for students with strong academic ability , excellent academic proficiency in English and a strength in one or more areas of the arts , technology , humanities , mathematics , science , languages or sports . We also expect scholarship students to have a readiness to undertake service learning contributing to the school and local community .
On Wednesday 1st February at 8:30am and at 6:00pm there will be Parent Workshops about the launch of the IBDP programme at DCIS . The information evening will be open to interested parents from across the DCIS community . Even if your child is in a younger year group , we would encourage you to attend the evening so that you can learn about the long-term vision of the DCIS Sixth Form and we can explain the different pathways available at DCIS from August 2017 . Mrs . Rinaldi will also be running an assembly for all students in Year 5-12 on Friday 20th January .
Later in Term 2 , DCIS will be visited by two members of the IB world community to confirm that we meet the required standards to offer the programme . After a promising consultancy visit in November , we are positive about the verification visit and look forward to hearing their feedback on the development of the programme at DCIS .
In the meantime , if you have any queries regarding the IBDP at DCIS , please contact our IBDP Coordinator , Heather Rinaldi : heather . rinaldi @ dovercourt . edu . sg
