COVID-19 BRINGS VIRTUAL CLASSES TO COMMUNITY ED
Video Conferencing The appearance of COVID last March certainly brought plenty of changes , and some of them have been for the better ! One such change is the ability to attend a Community Education class from the comfort of your home . Thanks to video conferencing applications such as Zoom and Google Meet , you can join others in a “ virtual classroom .” Tim , the Gladstone Receptionist , has been teaching FREE classes on how to use Zoom . You do need a computer , laptop , tablet or Smartphone with an internet connection to “ see ” these virtual classes .
Phone Conferencing No internet , computer , tablet or smartphone ? You can still attend the class ! Zoom and Google Meet allow you to join via phone . This means you can call in ( using a touch-tone landline , flip phone or smartphone ) and listen to the presentation . You can also make comments and ask questions . We will print out the instructors ’ presentation slides and handouts as well as step-by-step directions on how to connect to the class , and have them available for you to pickup at Gladstone before the class begins . Give it a try – just look for the phone icon next to the class description in the catalog . This icon is located next to classes that we think will work exceptionally well as a phone-in class . You will register for the class using the class number that has “ Audio ” as part of the number ( AEB1Audio ). If the class you are interested in doesn ’ t have the phone icon next to it , call the office at 651-748-7250 , we ’ ll see what we can do . Please note carrier rates may apply to these calls .
GLADSTONE GREY DUCKS
Most of the District 622 schools have a mascot and now Gladstone does too . Introducing the Gladstone Grey Ducks ! The smiling faces on the mature , distinguished looking duck , and the youthful duckling truly represent the Gladstone climate — everyone is always smiling .
WALL ART
If you smiled for the camera at Gladstone over the last couple of years , you may find yourself on the wall ! Our hallways are newly adorned with images captured during the many activities , special events and Meals on Wheels at Gladstone . Particular favorites include the smiling faces of our preschool neighbors who joined in some of the activities .
