[ The Gift of Wellbeing ]
ne of the greatest gifts one generation of women
can pass on to the next is an appreciation for optimal health and wellbeing. It’s about more than just
feeling good. It’s an awareness of how our physical health
affects every area of our lives; an expectation of vibrant
health at every age.
Grandmothers, mothers and teens rely on their physicians
as a valued resource. When the patient-physician relationship is based on trust and confidence, women are more
comfortable seeking professional advice. Teens know they
can ask any question rather than relying on the internet for
generic information. Women understand that their bodies,
like their lives, are unique and they count on their physicians to provide sound options for best care.
When health problems arise, it’s especially comforting to
have an experienced specialist as part of your healthcare
team. Ellen Wilson, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. is a board-certified
gynecologist/reproductive endocrinologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she serves as the medical
director of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Children’s Medical Center, as well as an associate professor
of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has over 20 years of
experience treating children, adolescents and adults.

“Having a caring physician is critically important to most
women,” says Wilson. “Whether it’s a first gynecological
visit, questions about tubal reversal or treatment for fibroids,
women deserve to be heard, respected and given clear
information. They want answers based on their individual
circumstances––how the advantages of robotic surgery
might benefit them, or what surgical options will minimize
recovery time. Interacting with patients is important to me.
My goal is to help them overcome any problems and stay
as healthy as possible.”
Her philosophy, expertise and care resulted in Wilson being named one of the Best Doctors in Dallas four times by D
Magazine. She has earned two Fellows Teaching Awards
and appeared on the Texas Super Doctors list for seven
years.
“It’s been my experience that women make good choices
when provided sufficient information,” Wilson says. “That’s
why it’s important to understand your unique situation.
Once you know the facts, you can learn about your options
and make the decision that is best for you.”
Dr. Ellen Wilson encourages women to contact their
physicians with questions or concerns. For more
