WATER

Water, water, water. I literally was dying of thirst running from one place to another. I'd miss the cocktail hour in order to catch a show and it's not like there's a bodega near most of the event locations. Make sure to have an emergency bottle on hand.

IPHONE LENSES

I beg all bloggers, buyers, guests and those priviledged to sit in the front row. Please invest in iphone lenses or whatever extendable lenses fit your smartphone. I can't tell you how many beautiful shots were destroyed by your phones and extended arms on the runway. And please uncross your legs. The show is about the designer, not your new pointy shoes.

COMFORTABLE SHOES

Did I not mention the uneven sidewalks and cobblestone streets of NY? They are killer to your stilettos or any heels for that matter. Keep comfy foldable flats in your purse, along with your snacks and water. I promise you, you won't regret it!

New York Fashion Week is on every fashion maven's itinerary for February and September. It's a thrill to attend but you must be prepared!

SNACK BAR

Most fashion events offer a complimentary open bar before the runway show. You don't want to be a hot mess and keeled over by midday. Make sure you have snacks if you plan to imbibe and when you do, keep it at a two glass minimum.

SLAP CAPS

OMG! Can I tell you how much I love these caps? They saved me this winter, especially with the tundra temperatures NYC had during NYFW. I was able to remove my beanie and still look presentable. Thank you Slap Caps for keeping me warm and decent!

A DRIVER

I've made the mistake on taking public transportation with all my gear. Never again, especially on the unsteady streets of NY. If you're company can pay for it, get a driver or UBER it.

PATIENCE

Patience is truly a virtue when you receive invites and then receive the wrong information or you're not on the right list. Most of the people manning the front lines are not the same people you deal with when you RSVP. They don't know you and will be dismissive until you prove who you are. I had to remember they are also dealing with event crashers, so really be patient and understanding. That person refusing you at the door, may be the next PR director in five years. They always seem to remember you when you're at your bitchiest and have memories like elephants. They never forget.

MUST HAVES FOR ANY

FASHION WEEK

ITINERARY

Plan your itinerary as early as you can. There are always an excess of shows to attend, so you must pare down in advance. Once you decide, make sure you plan out your travel, lunch, potty time, etc. You'll be amazed how quickly time flies in between shows and most shows start on time.

A REAL CAMERA

Of course I have a camera but I cannot tell you how many times after the show, I heard attendees complain that their phone wasn't enough to capture the beauty on the runway. Visit this site for reviews on the best point and shoot cameras. http://www.cnet.com/topics/cameras/best-digital-cameras/budget/

A FRIEND

It's all work and no play without a friend in tow. How else are you going to gossip about who and what was on the scene? Did you see so and so? Who were those people hogging the red carpet? And why did they have the models nipples showing? Just an example...
