Curro Academy Pretoria’s under 11
netball learners at Curro Nationals
SPORT
Curro Academy Mahikeng has some real talent
Olebogeng Ramaboa in Grade 12 was selected sportsman of the year while Rethabile Molefe, also
in Grade 12, was selected as sportswoman of the year.
Congratulations to the Curro bowling team members Muofhe Raphulu, Ashley Ndlovu and Katlego
Setenane who played in the league final on 11 June 2018 at Mafikeng Bowling Club. Curro won
13-9 to be the champions.
Curro Academy Mahikeng is also very proud of Aleena Shaik, a Grade 9 learner who received a gold
medal in ground fighting. With this fighting you start on one knee and overpower your opponent.
The longer you keep her down, the more points you score. Aleena went on to qualify for the world
championship as well.
Curro Academy Pretoria’s learners attended Curro Nationals in
Hillcrest, Kwa-Zulu Natal from 23 to 27 September 2018. They
played for Jacaranda Netball Club’s under 11 team. They were
accompanied by their teachers Cheney van den Berg and Pelser
Prinsloo as well as Johan Goosen, Executive Head.

SANDOWN Ready, steady, go
Curro Academy Sandown had their first annual sports day on 27 March
2018. What added to the significance of this day was that it marked the
birth of the three sports houses – Pelicans, Seagulls and Penguins – a
mere three months into the opening of the school.
Charisse le Roux, Executive Head, was not going to let the challenges of
opening a brand-new school deter from founding three sports houses.
The blue, red and yellow displayed beautifully on the sports field and
spectators and participants alike could taste the excitement in the air.
As the day progressed, the three sports teams showed more enthusiasm
for their teammates on the field and the highlight of the day was the
parent race. Moms and dads showed their support by entering the
race without reserve, and in the moms’ race two heats were needed
as there was not enough space for all the volunteering moms to fit on
the field.
