Increasing Flood Resilience in the City Since major storm events have resulted in localized flooding and property damage in some San Francisco neighborhoods, an interdepartmental City task force has been developing a comprehensive Flood Resilience Study to identify sewer system improvements that can help better manage stormwater. The findings will help guide future ratepayer investments and prioritize projects citywide. The report will be presented to the SFPUC Commission on May 24. In the meantime, we deployed over 400 feet of interlocking, water-tight flood barriers at 17th and Folsom Streets to help reduce the impact of heavy rains in this low-lying neighborhood. This pilot effort is the first of its kind in San Francisco.
