In the insensate foot, plantar wounds are challenging because they
require functional solutions that can withstand the loads associated
with weight-bearing. Reconstructive surgeons often use skin-grafted
muscle flaps or fasciocutaneous flaps to achieve durable coverage.
However wound recurrence continues to be a concern.
