Annual Symposium and Exhibition
in St Louis this year. We have a top
notch group of speakers who will
deliver informative and thought-
provoking presentations in the only
pedorthic-specific education event
in the nation. If you haven’t signed
up, you are in the minority. Come
network and learn alongside your
fellow pedorthists. No one ever
goes home without some new ideas
about products, techniques, business
approaches and some new friends! If

This issue features not one, but
two great research articles that
will have immediate relevance in
your practice. There is a positive
correlation between the foot and the
knee. Knee problems are a costly and
ever growing issue across all walks of
life in our society. From the athlete
with overuse injuries to the elderly
person who feels like they are just
wearing out, millions are spent on
treatments and surgeries in the US
each year. As a pedorthist, you can

offer simple solutions to protect the
knee and reduce pain and potential
inflammation. From proper shoe
selection to insoles to custom foot
orthoses and braces, pedorthists
have a lot to offer. This makes you a
valuable asset to your clients as they
strive to get and stay active and pain
free. You will also find a great article
that will enhance your understanding
of the lymphatic system and
lymphedema, a difficult disease to
deal with, to be sure.
With Fall upon us, that means the
holidays are just around the corner.
These are joyous times for most.
For others, they will still be dealing
with tremendous loss. Hurricane
Michael devastated the Florida
panhandle with a level of destruction
that is thankfully rarely seen on
the mainland of the United States.
Many of our friends and colleagues
experienced profound loss due to
this storm. Count the blessings you
have if you are not one of them. Our
thoughts and prayers are with you if
you were.
