44 | CEU The Other Circulatory
System
By Dr. James McGuire DPM, PT,
LPed, FAPWHc, Milad Manoucheh
BS, Gilberto A. Vilá Arroyo
In our CEU article for this edition, Dr.
McGuire, Milad and Gilberto introduce
us to the lymphatic system, previously a
poorly understood system for returning
fluid and other materials back to the more
well-known circulatory systems. This is
important to help the body rid itself of
infection, and to transport cellular waste.
A solid understanding of this system gives
the pedorthist insight into the underlying
causes of lymphedema, a common issue in
our daily practice. This article is available
for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit.
