on Jeopardy !, if you do not set aside uninterrupted time to plan , don ’ t waste your time . Honestly look at your daily practices . Are there more efficient ways to do certain tasks ? Sometimes your practice can benefit from a fresh set of eyes . We all tend to get into our own ruts . Marriage counselors might tell you to change things up in your marriage to keep it fresh . Could that advice also pertain to your business ? Network with local allied health professionals . Look at how successful ones operate their business . Are there lessons to be learned from them ? Go to the Annual PFA Symposium and talk to fellow pedorthists . How are they doing things ? Are there ideas you can implement , technology you can invest in to speed your processes ? Do not change things for the sake of change , but look for the areas that are slowing things down , or complicating other tasks . Ultimately when planning , we need to keep certain things in focus :
Identify an area that needs to made more efficient .
Include input from staff members Identify a solution .
Come up with a plan to implement the solution .
Make sure the plan is reasonable and attainable within the financial boundaries , timeframe to implement , and that you have or get the expertise to pull it off available .
Come up with a time frame to have the new efficiency implemented .
Coach staff members on the new efficiency measures .
During the Implementation Phase , there will be hiccups . Understand that , and do not be distracted by the minor mishaps that are likely during the adjustment period . The
