Positive patient response and successful outcomes will be translated to a successful and prosperous business. 38 Pedorthic Footcare Association www.pedorthics.org One of the biggest issues facing today’s pedorthist is one of awareness, majority of the general public has very little idea what pedorthists do and what is within their scope of practice. It is up to you, the pedorthist, to promote the profession and you are responsible for raising awareness within your community and medical community. The best way to start is to educate the public by lecturing, writing articles and distributing brochures about what a certified pedorthist can do for them and their patients. As a pedorthist it is up to you to educate potential referral sources, and most the time that means calling on the physicians personally, holding in–services at hospitals and in doctors’ groups and, in my mind, Author Coby Miller, Olympic track and field athlete, who specializes in the sprint events, with Donna Robertson.
