Hi everyone! Rob and I would like to welcome you to the Pediatric Issue
of Current Pedorthics. We all love to hear about the grand feats of our
patients, but this issue will focus on the smallest "feets", those of our
growing and newest lifelong customers; children.
Children offer special challenges for the pedorthist. They are not just
little adults, their bones are soft and growing. In some cases, a bone that
will exist in their adult foot does not even exist yet. Damage to growth
plates can cause abnormal growth and create lifelong challenges. From
personal experience I can tell you that fitting children's shoes on a
wriggling 4-year-old can be frustrating, but watching them run around
with their playmates not giving their previous discomfort any thought at
all is a reward well worth it. Please enjoy this issue. Thanks for supporting
