LES proposes no rate increase for
third year in a row
LES customers should see little to no change on their normal electric bills in 2020.

recommended no
increase to retail
electric rates in the
2020 budget and rates
proposal during the LES
Administrative Board
meeting Sept. 20.
With no system-
wide average rate
adjustment, demand-
metered customers
won’t see changes to
their monthly bills.

Oct. 3 // Budget & Rates Meeting
LES staff will meet with customers to provide information and receive
feedback on the utility’s proposed 2020 budget and rates before the
LES Administrative Board takes action on the budget at its October
meeting. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3 at LES’
Walter A. Canney Service Center, 2620 Fairfield Street.

Electric rates in
Lincoln rank among
the most affordable
in the nation. LES
surveyed the rates of
100 electric utilities in
different cities across
the country in its 2019
National Electric Rate
Study and determined
that LES’ average
rates are the 11th
lowest.
Residential customers
using 1,000 kilowatt-
hours per month pay
an average of $96.63
on their monthly
bill, which is 30%
less than the study
average of $138.56.
Meanwhile, LES
industrial customers
using 1,000 kW and
400,000 kWh pay
$31,092 on their
monthly bill, which
is 25% less than the
study average of
$41,537.

Winter electric rates now in effect until May 31, 2020
Winter rates, which are lower than our summer rates, are in effect October through May the following year. This
year’s residential winter rate is $.0548 per kilowatt-hour. View commercial rates, which vary by customer type,
