The Chilean-born, but New York-based artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz has been described in Interview Magazine as ‘A half merry prankster, half brooding death-poet,’ while art critic Chrstian ViverosFaune remarks: ‘[he] is an immensely talented young artist and designer with few generational equals’. At the heart of Sebastian’s customized vintage racing bike is not the roaring engine but ‘IT’S THIS a dead bird. Symbolising vitality via a creature that is no more reminds the rider that soon he CLOSENESS might also be no more. As we all know, it’s this TO DEATH THAT closeness to death that thrills the live-fasts-andTHRILLS THE LIVEdie-youngs, often to the terror of those who care for them. That’s why, through combining art and FASTS-AND-DIEpurpose, Sebastian matches the motorcycle’s YOUNGS’ rugged masculinity with the volatile and often fatal temper of nature. With conceptual wit and a brilliant, wonderfully macabre mind, Sebastian’s work candidly questions the dichotomy of Life and Death and has taking a second look at the world around us, helping us remember that things are not always as they seem… Made possible by motorcycle collector John Magyar, Time Lapse was produced by the Worth Motorcycle Company and built by NYC Norton. And, to further help the cause, a portion of the profits will be donated to the Worth Motorcycle Company – a non-profit organisation that teaches NYC’s at-risk youth the art of vintage motorcycle restoration.
