HAPPENINGS SUMMER 2019 Smith Lake Memorial Day Festival A full day of family festivities at the park, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 403 County Road 386 Cookouts, entertainment through the day to enjoy lakeside. Phone: 256-739-2916. 2nd Fridays A monthly downtown festival featuring showcases of restaurants, live entertainment and rides stretches from the Festhalle south to the Busy Bee and beyond. Look for car shows, late-night farmers markets and plenty of other activities. An effort of Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Merchants Association, the event begins on the second Friday in June and continues to the second Friday in September. Activities begin at 5 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. at this pedestrian-friendly event. There is no admission cost. Free movie nights Relive the old-fashioned drive-in movies on Fridays, from June 14 through July 26, with hit, family- favorite films. Showtime starts at 8:45 p.m., with no admission cost, at Nesmith Park. Bring the entire family for these nostalgic events where you can movies from your vehicle or bring lawn chairs and blankets. Dates and times for this event are subject to change due to weather; check the Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Facebook page for updates. 4th of July Festival Smith Lake Park will be the setting a day/night-long celebration of Independence Day. Plenty of music, food and ultimately fireworks, 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. to round out a full day at the park at 403 County Road 386.
