Cub Summer Adventures! Spirit Of Adventure • Boy Scouts of America Let’s Build Some Great Family Memories If you were to use one word to describe today’s families it would be, “busy”. With the hustle and bustle of the day, Mary’s dance lesson and Johnny’s Cub Scout meeting it is hard to find activities that the whole family can enjoy. Scouting provides plenty of opportunities for parents and their children to grow together. Scouting is a safe place for youth to laugh, learn, make mistakes and build stronger relationships with their leaders, peers and parents. This year the Spirit Of Adventure Council is opening its Day Camp Programs to the whole family. Our Cub programs are designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Brothers, sisters, cousins, grandparents, moms and dads are all invited. Our Cub Scout camping programs invites the entire family into the outdoors. By opening camps to families the Spirit of Adventure Council provides an excellent day care option for families with boys and girls. Parents can drop off their children in one camp instead of two. They also have the option to spend the week or part of the week sharing the adventure with their kids. Children’s memories of summer experiences can last a lifetime. In 2016 families can share that memory as a family. At its heart, camping is a family and communal activity, done best and most successfully with the people with whom we love to spend time. We go to the beach with our friends and families. If we’re truly blessed, we even get to spend some of our family vacation with our best friends. Cub Scout Camp is another opportunity to spend precious quality time with our families and friends. There is so much FUN to be had at a a Spirit of Adventure camp. All our activities are every bit as appropriate for a similar age sibling as they are for a Cub Scout. The Cub Scout’s brother or sister… or even their parents… will enjoy the waterfront or the archery range just as much as the Scout. Everybody benefits from going to camp, interacting with friends, trying new things, and pushing past personal boundaries. The children strengthen growing friendships and kindle new ones. They look up to their counselors and learn that there are many adults and older youth who want them to succeed and grow. Parents connect with like-minded adults, too and expand their circle of friendship. And of course, spending a day at camp together encourages the family to reconnect and strengthen the family unit. This summer let’s play outside with the family and create some lifelong memories..
