Perspectiva de género en la formación de
profesionales de la salud
Gender perspective in the training of health professionals

RESUMEN
E
l tema de género es controversial, por implicar un análisis de la sociedad que devela las desigual-
dades e inequidades estructurales asociadas al valor del sexo y su significación cultural. La teoría
de género define este constructo como la relación de poder entre hombres y mujeres establecida
culturalmente. Las sociedades humanas contemporáneas tienen en común la asimetría de poder, donde la
feminidad y las mujeres son subordinadas a la masculinidad y por tanto a los varones. Es la cosmovisión
androcéntrica que sostiene y posibilita el orden social, con la preeminencia del linaje paterno y la figura del
padre como sujeto que detenta el poder y origina el marco de significados que organizan la vida social en
una cosmogonía representada en el patriarcado. La implementación de la perspectiva de género en la for-
mación profesional se encuentra con obstáculos referidos a la resistencia cultural del sistema sexo-género
a nivel individual de estudiantes, académicos, académicas y la resistencia de las organizaciones. Lo que re-
quiere un cambio en la cultura organizacional a través de la implementación de la transversalidad de género.
La formación de profesionales de la salud con perspectiva de género requiere de un trabajo constante en
el tiempo y que esté manifiesto en las mallas curriculares, por tanto, es preciso abordar progresivamente el
género en distintas asignaturas como un contenido transversal y tener una asignatura fuerte específica de
género aplicada a la formación concreta que se imparte.

ABSTRACT
The gender issue is controversial, as it implies an analysis of society that reveals the inequalities and
structural inequities associated with the value of sex and its cultural significance. Gender theory defines
this construct as the culturally established power relationship between men and women. Contemporary
human societies have in common the asymmetry of power, where femininity and women are subordinated
to masculinity and therefore to men. It is the androcentric worldview that sustains and enables the social
order, with the preeminence of the paternal lineage and the figure of the father as the subject that holds
power and originates the framework of meanings that organize social life in a cosmogony represented in
patriarchy. The implementation of the gender perspective in vocational training encounters obstacles rela-
ted to the cultural resistance of the sex-gender system at the individual level of students, academics, acade-
mics and the resistance of organizations. What requires a change in the organizational culture through the
implementation of gender mainstreaming. The training of health professionals with a gender perspective
requires constant work over time and is manifested in the curricula, therefore, it is necessary to progres-
sively address gender in different subjects as a transversal content and have a specific strong subject of
gender applied to the specific training that is imparted.
