Don F. Bradford – Alabama My name is Don F. Bradford. I live in north Alabama along the southernmost tip of the Appalachian mountains near the Georgia state line. I painted my first painting at the age of five and have enjoyed studying art and design ever since. I have lived in several areas during my life from New York City to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A few years ago, I began studying under masters at extended workshops to learn the skills necessary to achieve acceptable results. I began by painting in oils but found watercolor to be much more challenging and satisfying personally. If you make a mistake, you simply must start over. I enjoy art shows and selling prints and originals even though my career is that of a custom home designer and builder. I develop beautiful and unique residential subdivisions and I do enjoy being able to help my clients with my artistic skills. Also, I never leave home with out my Nikon. I love photography almost as much as painting. My suggestion to anyone that wants to study photography or to paint is to just do it, then show it, and enjoy the results no matter your skill level. Path to Ucluelet The Ucluelet painting is from a sketch that I made along and just south of the Pacific Rim National Seashore on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. We had taken a ski trip to Whistler and decided to ferry over to the Island and visit Tofino and Ucluelet. This particular painting is favored most of any among visitors to my gallery. We were overwhelmed with the rugged beauty and remoteness of the western side of the island so I composed the painting from memory and photos. The trip was taken in February and the painting was my best effort to capture the light fog that was hovering just above the stormy winter seas. The painting is a large format watercolor and painted "wet in wet" technique. on wet stretched paper. 57
