One of our mottos is “we are committed to the success of every
student.” We know navigating college can be a huge challenge,
but CSU Monterey Bay has a variety of programs in place to
help you succeed.
One whole wing of the library is devoted to programs that do just
that. We’ve got a team of tutors who can help on any number of
academic subjects, plus peer mentors who offer advice on time
management, study skills and balancing college life in general.

In the Undergraduate Advising Center, professional staff
advisors assist students with choosing a major, picking the
right classes, and identifying long-range goals for careers or
grad school.
Go the extra mile
Help isn’t just for folks having a hard time. Everybody can use
a push now and then, and the results of a little extra effort
can have a lifelong impact. For example, the Undergraduate
Research Opportunities Center helps students get the most
out of their educational investment by participating in research
conferences, internships and summer projects under the
guidance of dedicated faculty mentors. Participating students
gain the competitive edge they need for acceptance into some
of the nation’s top graduate programs.

Many students choose to live in CSUMB’s residence halls, suites
and apartments. Free laundry, high-speed Internet and cable all
come standard, and the rooms are quite spacious because many
are remodeled officers’ quarters – one of the ways CSUMB
has transformed the former Fort Ord Army base into a
comprehensive university.
More important than the size of the rooms are the connections
you make living on campus. A few themed res halls bring
together students with similar interests. Whether you live on
campus or commute from town, the friendships you develop will
have a huge impact on your overall educational experience – so
get involved!
