Economics
The department of economics provides training and conducts research in topics ranging from money and banking , to health economics , to the history of economies and of economic ideas . Many scholars in the department focus their research on policy challenges related to sustainability , inequality , and economic globalization . Students majoring in economics have the opportunity to participate in original research on these and other pressing economic issues through internships with local businesses and policy research groups . Students may also enroll in the department ’ s emphasis track in “ Statistical Analysis for Economics ,” which incorporates a two-course sequence focused on research projects and presentations carried out in collaboration with government and non-profit groups .
