Environmental and Sustainability Studies
The environmental and sustainability studies program focuses on the challenges we face with society , the environment , and the economy . Students in environmental and sustainability studies learn how to assess and implement sustainable opportunities , understand climate change , ecosystem services , and environmental justice . Students take courses while simultaneously performing research in areas such as controlling invasive plant species and collecting data on tree population and growth at the Alta Ski Resort . Additionally , the program offers several exciting internship opportunities in the university and the local community , including the University of Utah ’ s Edible Campus Garden and Utah ’ s Clean the Air Challenge .
