Ceramics (Ages 8-15)
This fun and engaging class will challenge students to experience their own creative
process through the art of ceramics. Students will be introduced to ceramic studio
terminology, explore the geological origins of clay and glazes, and learn the science behind
how clay becomes ceramic. Students will also be introduced to the elements of art,
principles of design, historical and geographical context of ceramic art, and hand-building
techniques, while creating functional ware and decorative pieces.
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Ages 11-15)
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. (Ages 8-10)

Character Design for Animation (Ages 11-15)
Focused primarily on designing characters for use in animation storytelling, students
will redesign and create characters from scratch. Working largely in Adobe Photoshop,
emphasis will be placed on process and technique. Students will design everything needed
to tell a compelling story, including characters, clothing, tools, vehicles, animals, and
environments. It is recommended to take this course in conjunction with the Animation
course.
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Character Design for Video Games (Ages 11-15)
Focused primarily on creating characters for use in video games and interactive
applications, students will create characters for a concept of their own invention. Working
largely in Adobe Photoshop, emphasis will be placed on process and technique. Students
will design everything needed to tell a compelling story, including characters, clothing,
tools, vehicles, animals, and environments. It is recommended to take this course in
conjunction with the Video Game Design course.
