College Essay Writing (Incoming Seniors)
This class will include individual teacher and student small group peer assistance
in choosing appropriate essay topics, reviewing college essay-appropriate literary
and rhetorical devices, examining evidence used to support and enhance the essay,
organization of content and essay format based upon prompt demands, and peer
revision and editing sessions. Students will complete the workshop with at least one
peer and AP Language and Composition teacher reviewed and edited essay, ready for
college submission.
Session One: Monday, June 24 – Thursday, June 27
Session Two: Monday, July 8 – Thursday, July 11
Session Three: Monday, July 15 – Thursday, July 18
Session Four: Monday, July 22 – Thursday, July 25
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Cost: $200
Early Bird Cost: $175
Please Note: There are multiple sessions of the same workshop offered.
Each session meets Monday – Thursday.
Study Skills (Ages 12-14)
This class will prepare students, in a variety of ways, to perform more efficiently and
effectively in middle and high school. The skills acquired in this course will act as key
foundational skills for the rigorous schedule of a maturing student. Through creative
lessons, hands-on projects, and plenty of practice, students will emerge as better time
managers, organizers, and students. Topics covered in this course include:
• Note-taking skills
• Organization tips and habits
• Time management (simple and complex)
• Technology literacy
• Learning styles and multiple intelligences
• Collaboration skills
• Self-advocacy
• Goal setting

Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
