ONE-WEEK ARTS INTENSIVES
Cinematography (Ages 11-15)
This one-week intensive will allow students to explore the principles and tools of
cinematography, including hands-on training with lighting equipment, DSLR cameras,
and camera rigs. Students will learn how to enhance the effectiveness of their visual
storytelling through camera angles and movement, as well as through the manipulation
of light, shadow, and color. Through this course, students will: learn about the basic
role and tools of cinematographers and gaffers; expand their understanding of the
collaborative nature of filmmaking through group projects; and make short commercials
from concept to completion, incorporating a variety of cinematographic techniques. It
is recommended that students have some experience with editing and storytelling. This
class provides a great follow-up to the Film Production Skills intensive.

Stop Motion Animation Film Techniques (Ages 11-15)
Have you ever wondered how they make those cool animation videos on Instagram
or what goes into making a film like “The Nightmare Before Christmas?” If yes, then
this class is for you! Students will engage in hands-on experience with paper cut-out,
pixilation, and traditional stop-motion puppet animation by creating a short, original
stop-motion piece. Learn and explore the foundational concepts, techniques, and
artistic process that bring objects and characters to life.

INSTRUMENTAL & VOCAL MUSIC
Wind Studies (Ages 11-15)
This one-week workshop is designed for woodwind, brass, and percussion students.
Students will have fun in an engaging, comprehensive, and educational environment,
featuring chamber music, seminars, master classes, and performances with professional
guest artists and a full wind ensemble. The week will conclude with a festival performance
on Friday afternoon. This workshop is open to current and incoming OCSA students
as well as students from the community. It is recommended that students have at least
one year of ensemble playing experience and/or one year of private instruction on their
instrument. Students must provide their own instrument.
