My Impressions of time spent on Silver Muse
By Kerry Treacy
From the moment I embarked Silver
Muse I knew I was going to totally
enjoy my time onboard. Being greeted
with a glass of champagne was a
good start.
Our butler, Bhanu Pratap Singh from
India, introduced us to our Veranda
Suite on deck 6 explaining the
various services available – from
pillows to toiletries to the workings
of the television. He and our suite
attendant Ashton Pires, also from India,
anticipated our every wish during the
cruise.
After lunch in the extensive buffet
style La Terrazza with both indoor
and outdoor seating which converts
to an Italian Restaurant by night, we
explored the ship.
Holidaying during the festive season
of Christmas and New Year brings
any ship to life as all the associated
decorations and colour impart such
joyous sentiments and anticipation to
people of all ages. I love the Christmas
trees, garlands, tinsel, gingerbread
houses of all sizes, plates of candy
canes, shortbread and other moorish
offerings, red poinsettias, and the list
goes on.
Silversea offers guests a unique
combination of Italian elegance
combined with warm hospitality. An
amazing team of dedicated men
and women work tirelessly to ensure

all onboard have a wonderful and
enjoyable holiday.
Travel is built on many things,
adventure, impulse, promises,
expectations, but nothing brings
people together as much as a good
meal. I am drawn to all things Italian,
it is literally in my genes. The choice of
food was exceptional.
Atlantide was visited by many of the
guests each night and featured an
extensive menu enabling you to dine
here and savour a different selection
each evening – seafood and grill. A
guest arrived without his glasses one
evening and his wife was about to
inform him of the menu, but in no
time his waiter appeared with an
elegant wooden box complete with
magnifying glasses of all strengths and
he selected the most appropriate for
his vision. I have never witnessed this
before in any restaurant either at sea
or on land. That is extraordinary service.
Indochine leads to a mouth-watering
journey of Asian fusion and Kaiseki,
inspired creations from Japan. La
Terrazza is buffet style for breakfast
and lunch and by night Italian cuisine.
The Grill on deck poolside at night
becomes Lava Stone cooking. We
had formerly enjoyed this on Silver
Spirit in the Med. Silver Note with a
club atmosphere serves international
flavours with music and dancing.
Also on deck is Spaccanapoli a
relaxed outdoor pizzeria. And last but
certainly the highest expression of
excellence in French dining – La Dame.
Be sure to reserve and enjoy being
thoroughly spoilt over two to three
hours for this dinner engagement.
John and myself celebrated New
Year in great style. A cover charge of
US$60.00 applies, but is well worth it
for the decadent experience. Wine is
included and is specifically chosen to
accompany each course.
Complimentary 24 hour room service
is also available. You must also enjoy
an evening meal in your suite or on the
balcony.
An Australian collection of books
was added to the library and paid
homage to our well respected authors
e.g. Thomas Keneally, Robert Hughes,
Philip Knightly, Tim Flannery and Sarah
Murgatroyd.
The Zagara Spa featured the
new Jindilli massage (a Southern
Queensland indigenous term for
macadamia) and concentrates on
the home-grown medicinal properties
of macadamia and eucalyptus
oil, which are native to Australia
and sourced from Queensland’s
Glasshouse Mountains region. The
above mentioned inclusions salute our
Australian heritage and are greatly
appreciated. I found the Spa an area
