The Prince's Proposal

ONCE UPON A TIME...

There was this Prince. A prince who did the unthinkable because of love. With His Father’s blessings and direction, the Prince left His kingdom where He was praised and worshipped every day and went in pursuit of His bride. He took on the appearance of someone so common, humbled himself like a servant, though He was of greatest royalty.

“Where was His bride?” you ask. “And why did He have to use such extreme measures to search for her?”

Well, there was an evil force whose jealousy had grown. Who wanted not only power, but also wanted to destroy the love between the Prince and His bride-to-be. Using something so seemingly innocent as an apple, he devised a plan to deceive the bride. Eating the apple would poison their relationship and separate the Prince and His bride - forever.

With one bite, the princess unknowingly brought darkness into the world and no longer knew the close love of her prince like she once did. As time went by, you may say she forgot her identity; forgot her first love. She wandered the earth feeling as if something were missing. She tried to fill the void with everything shiny and again seemingly innocent that the evil put in front of her, but the temporary fixes only left her even more hopeless and empty than before. Evil thought it had won, BUT that’s where the battle began...

As the Prince left His kingdom and sought out His bride, He knew where the journey would lead. The only way to destroy the darkness that had separated them, would be to pay the ultimate price for what had been done. He would have to lay down His life and His blood be spilt - that blood of purest royalty to break the hold the darkness had on His love. Otherwise she would always be lost. So He would willingly pay the penalty for her. She was worth it.

The once amazing Prince who helped rule the kingdom, now lowered himself into a commoner, refusing to let His army protect Him. His Father was forced to turn His back, and let evil have its way. But the evil’s jealousy was so great that it wasn’t enough just to kill the Prince. First the Prince would be beaten until He didn’t even look like a man.

Then He would be shamed in front of many. His arms were stretched and nailed as He

was raised and displayed for all to see. But even as it all took place, the Prince knew... His bride was worth it.

As He took His last breath, He said, “It is finished.” Evil thought that meant the Prince was no more, but what it didn’t know was the darkness no longer had power over the bride. The Prince’s selfless act didn’t end in death, but actually brought life. The Prince was once again restored to His rightful place in His kingdom, but left a proposal for His love:

“All is forgiven and I want you to be with me forever in Paradise. I am the One who went to the ends of the earth and back for you. I am the One who fought for you and will always fight for you. I am the One who will hold and protect your heart. I am the One who died for you. “I” am the love you have been looking for.

“If you will accept my love, I will come back to get you one day. I will be the Prince coming in on the white horse to take you to my kingdom. For you were always meant to be by my side. Though you were once lost, now you are found... You, are my Princess.”
