lindsay's heartbeat

for india

Meet Lindsay. She grew up in Kansas as a pastor's daughter, and has always had a great love for God, and a passion for the local church. But missions was not something on her mind.

"I wish I could say that I grew up with missions on my heart and a desire to one day build orphanages in third-world countries.  But that wouldn’t be true! " says Lindsay.

Then one day, God stepped in and changed her plans.

"I met the man who would soon be my husband.  He had been doing missions since he was 13, spending many summers of his teenage life in nations I had never even thought of visiting!

After meeting, I joined with him and his missions organization (Missions.Me) and went to the Dominican Republic when I was 19. I was hooked after that!"

Lindsay's first trip to India was life changing.

"I was completely blindsided!" She explains, "There were street children EVERYWHERE...like someone had let out a school bus after school."

"They had nowhere to go, except wander the streets.  Studies show that the estimated 25 million street children in India end up in 1 of 3 places: forced child labor, sex trafficking, or a life of begging on the streets. That’s it!

I couldn’t go about my life, not even that week, without doing something about it.

When I met a particular group of 50 kids through a Pastor friend, my heart was broken.  They were so cute, so innocent, and so vulnerable.  The oldest of the group wasn’t over the age of 12. We decided right then and there to build them a house, not knowing what that would entail!  I just knew that these kids needed a home, as soon as humanly possible, to get them off of the streets and into a loving and nurturing environment.

Over the next few months I prayed for vision and direction, and felt like “Angel House” was the perfect name for the project.
