Crown of Beauty Magazine The Love Story Issue | Page 42

"Wow...Moriah and I have been married for almost two years. We’ve seen a lot of what marriage means; we have been able to practice our wedding vows pretty well, through sickness and through health. Moriah had these flare-ups that would knock her off her feet for days at a time. Her stomach would be in knots, she’d be doubled over with pain, and she wouldn’t be able to walk. So we have seen each other in glorious life and in not so glorious situations. I think for us both seeing each other at our worst, the fact that we don’t even flinch when we see our spouse at their worst point. In this day in age when such emphasis is put on looking the part and playing the game, when someone loves you just the way you are, that is hands down the most meaningful thing to me; when I know that I am loved just the way I am."

Joel {For King & Country}

"The most life-changing thing that God has been teaching me about genuine love is that love is selfless. True love is putting the other person’s best interests above and before you put your own interests. "

Moriah Peters:

Joel Smallbone makes up one-half of the brother band, for KING & COUNTRY, with his brother Luke Smallbone. As the brothers of Rebecca St. James, Joel and Luke grew up in the music and ministry scene. Although the band originated in 2011, they go back much further than that; they’re brothers after all! You can check out their website at www.forkingandcountry.com, or, if you are a social media bug (like Crown of Beauty is!), you can follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

The lovely Moriah Peters, who is married to Joel Smallbone, recently released her sophomore project, Brave, which is playing in the headphones and earbuds of teenage girls across the globe, along with her debut album, I Choose Jesus. Crown of Beauty: What is the most favorite song that you have ever written/recorded?

Joel: That’s like asking me to choose my favorite child! My favorites come and go with different trials in my life, but my favorite one at the moment is "To the Dreamers," a song on our new record. That particular song is simply a song of encouragement. It’s calling all of the dreamers to follow their heart and to pursue their dreams.

Moriah: My favorite song that I have ever written would have to be the song, “BRAVE.”
