When God Says Wait...

Isabella Morganthal

I probably have the worst patience level of anyone I know.

Waiting calmly for something is not one of my strengths; in fact I’m horrible at it. Which I guess is why God decides to make me wait a lot of the time. When praying for something, quite often He asks me to wait. By now I should’ve mastered the art of patience, but I actually still have so far to go.

And because of this, I didn’t understand why God would give me a dream so close to my heart only to ask me to wait for it to happen someday.

You see, it’s almost been nine years since God changed my world forever.

It was March 9, 2008. The day God birthed a dream in my heart that I still have not fully experienced yet.

Looking back on that day so many years ago, there are many different things I would say to my almost eleven-year-old self. I would tell my younger self to trust, to believe in what God had in store. And I would tell myself that sometimes our dreams aren’t so much about the end result or the destination, as they are about the journey God leads us on along the way.

On that day, March 9, 2008, God asked me if I would serve Him in the beautiful country of Uganda.

    God called me.
