Falling in love with the Lord and His Word has been the BEST thing I could ever do for my spiritual journey and destiny! Give me a Bible and quiet time, and let me be for as long as I like, and it just might be for hours. Now that I’m married with children I don’t have as much free time as I did when I was single.
So, single sister, take advantage of this awesome season in your life to grow in the Word and spend time with the Lord.
Feasting on His Word is like eating healthy food. Though we might not desire it up front, the more we eat healthy and drink our water, the more our body desires it. The more you read your Bible, the more you will want to. Ask the Lord to give you a burning passion for getting alone with Him in His Word.
Satan does NOT want you to have the Word in your heart. He will do everything to distract you from reading and desiring it. You can find a translation that you understand (I love the NKJV or NIV). Keep giving the Word a try. Read and meditate on scriptures. Choose a scripture that speaks to your heart and read it over and over again. Pull up www.blueletter.com and type in a bible verse to read it in different translations. Memorize verses and speak them out loud during the day. You can begin with one of my favorites, Joshua 1:8.
"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."
Wow! The Book of God’s Holy Word will cause you to be successful when you read, meditate in it, and apply it.
I am still the girl who loves to get out, have fun, explore, and GO. I am also the girl who embraces, waits and daily pulls over to stop, rest, and re-fuel in the presence of the Lord. His Word keeps me nourished and energized. My stops with the Lord have made this the journey-of-a-lifetime!
Don’t you SO love your passenger, Jesus Christ? I do. Maybe it’s time to pull over, STOP, and love on Him for a moment. Once you’re satisfied, turn the ignition. Rev-up Jetta. And GO! I’ll see you on the freeway, girlfriend.
