In 1979, Brockhampton CC was the first club setting up a Junior section in this county. Today we count over 140 children (U9 to U15) every Friday evening. All are being coached by qualified coaches and volunteers to assure fun and encourage progress. The club continues to push boundaries both on and off the field. This year we introduced a county wide mental health initiative for our younger players and produced stickers to raise awareness for the cause. Brockhampton CC wants to be at the forefront of girls’ cricket in the county and we have already numerous girls playing County cricket for Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, and Shropshire. With the evolution of our women’s side into a West Midlands League, the club introduced its first girls only 10-week winter programme in 2019. The additional benefit of the Junior section is the help and support we get from the parents and we have found this invaluable over the years. This creates a true family feel at our club that lasts to Senior level and of which we are very proud of.” “We have four senior sides playing on Saturday’s. The 1st XI playing in the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League, the 2nd XI in the Worcestershire League and the 3rd and 4th XI playing in the Marches league. This offers different standards to our Juniors and enables us to introduce them to adult cricket in a structured way. We also have many Dad’s that are able to play cricket with their daughters or sons on that level creating a wonderful atmosphere as well as support our juniors through a smooth transition into adult cricket. Our structured pathway could take them from the local leagues all the way into the Birmingham League and beyond. In 2007 we won the Worcestershire County league and were promoted to The Birmingham League, eight players in the side started playing for the club at the age of 8!” 32 Issue 51 Community “We are definitely a community club. We strive to be part of the community, Brockhampton is set in a small hamlet and the club is keen to play an active role, some examples would be offering the facilities for weddings,
