Derbyshire FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/CRICKETCLUBMAG Derbyshire COUNTY CRICKET CLUB Derbyshire CCC has been working hard in recent times to grow the role that they play in their local community through the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation. Cricket Club Magazine recently caught up with their CDF Development Officer Charlotte Flindall to find out more about the work they’ve been doing lately. Charlotte told us, “The Foundation has been running for some time and I came into post in February with the aim of having a bigger impact and raising our profile. We want to have a positive impact on the residents of Derbyshire using the power of sport based around the six pillars of health, education, sport, art and culture, heritage and social inclusion. “What we want to focus on is education and we have been working with schools close to where we are situated. Derwent Primary School is very close to us and have set up an after-school club combined with AllStars that looks to provide food and teach the children about the Cricket World Cup built in with Geography about where the countries involved are based. “We were also aware of the ‘holiday hunger’ issue and so we are also looking to relieve the stress for parents by putting on a holiday club two days a week for three weeks to support what the schools do in term time combined with multi-sport activities. “It is a very much a case of laying foundations at the moment and building our profile to allow us to continue to develop over the coming years. It has been a positive start for us and now we are looking to push on and continue to progress. “I think the biggest challenge for us moving forwards is growing the foundation as at the moment we only have a small team. There is a lot of work to do and a lot of multi- 14 Issue 51 tasking is required to meet all of the demands placed on us and we are limited in how much we can do until we are able to grow. There are a lot of people that we want to communicate with and that takes time. “We are keen to attract more investment into the foundation.
