Band
Intro to Band Grades 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 1 Unit Introductory Band is a course available to all students who are desiring to learn about music , music theory , and the basics of performing on a musical instrument . This course is for students who have never played an instrument before , students who have played before but consider themselves to be a beginner , students who have played but took time away from band class but would like to rejoin , or students who play a nonband instrument ( guitar , piano , etc .) but would like to learn to play a band instrument . Students must either rent or purchase their own musical instrument and accessories . Depending upon the skill level attained in the 1 st semester , some students may transfer into the Concert Band for second semester .
Band Grades 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 1 Unit Band is a comprehensive program following middle school band instruction that began in 6 th grade . Continuation of the fundamentals of music and instrumental performance skills are emphasized . We hope to challenge the students musically , intellectually , technically and conceptually . MARCHING BAND is the emphasis for Fall semester . All Marching Band , Drum Line ( audition required ), and Color Guard ( audition required ) must attend the summer Marching Band Camp held before the school year begins . Band Camp is REQUIRED for everyone participating in the band . The Marching Band practices after school on Mondays , Tuesdays and Thursdays during the early part of football season with a “ relaxed ” schedule the early part of October reducing after school practice to once a week until the end of football season . After Football season , the emphasis shifts to concert band . Both semesters of band are required at the 9 th and 10 th grade levels . Students ( Grades 11 , 12 ) who leave band for a semester ( to meet a curricular requirement ) may re-enter with a successful audition .
