CURRICULUM
At The Crest Academy we offer a broad and balanced curriculum which ensures that our students
have the depth and breadth to prepare them for university.
We commit extra time to English and mathematics in every age group to ensure that students quickly
acquire the fluency to tackle the full curriculum with confidence. We also emphasise the wider skills of
citizenship and personal and social education through our ‘Crest Capital’ programme along with our main
national curriculum areas.
In KS3, all of our students study our core offer of English, Maths and Science, in addition to studying
Geography, History, a Foreign Language, Religious Education, Design Technology, Drama, Music, Art and
Physical Education. This allows our students to become fully versed in each subject area, allowing them to
make informed choices regarding their options when they reach KS4.
In KS4, we offer a wide choice of academic and vocational programmes at GCSE and BTEC, with
particular emphasis on students having a broad set of qualifications which allow them to be fully
prepared to compete for the top university places in the future. In particular we encourage all our
students to study languages and humanities as part of their KS4 programme of study to ensure that they
receive a rich and varied curriculum offer. Extra courses, after school and on Saturdays, help boost
attainment in every subject. We also offer a wide range of more creative subjects, such as Design
Technology, Art, Graphics, Music and Physical Education to allow our students to choose a range of
subjects at KS4 to fully enrich their educational experience.
In KS5, we offer a range of academic pathways focusing on traditional A Level programmes of study,
as well as a professional pathway offering a small range of BTEC courses coupled with professional
work experience placements in reputable industries. All our students complete the Extended
Project Qualification w
